Cherie Barber Partnering with Gliderol
Collaborative Renovation Projects Highlighting Garage Door Designs
Having renovated over 200 homes, I can vouch that your garage door can make or break your home’s street appeal. It’s one of those features most people overlook but it’s often the first thing people see! What I love about working with the Gliderol team is how easy they make the whole process from start to finish. They’re prompt with communication, easy to deal with & totally professional at what they do. From the initial design chat through to the quote & install, the whole experience is seamless. Their range of garage doors are also impressive, whether you want something classic, modern or a custom design that’s totally unique. I just wouldn’t consider using anyone else for my projects.

Project 1 - Full Garage Renovation
Gliderol are excited to work with Cherie Barber, Australia’s renovation queen™, on a series of her latest renovation projects.
With a career spanning over 34 years, Cherie is one of Australia’s most trusted renovation experts. She has personally renovated more than 200 properties and knows that every detail matters. Especially when it comes to the front façade of your home.
Cherie’s garage at one of her properties has been doorless for years. She is working with her builders and the Gliderol team to re-create the perfect space, knocking down the centre column and turning two small openings into one massive garage door. The whole garage will then be painted, transforming a sad old shed into something new!

Tips from Australia's Renovation Queen
What excited you the most about working with Gliderol Garage Doors?
Having been in the construction industry for 36 years, I’d always known that Gliderol were a credible, trusted Australian brand that was well aligned with my design values. Their products genuinely transform the look & feel of a home, something I’m genuinely passionate about showcasing to homeowners nationwide. Partnering with a brand that shares my commitment to quality & great design just made sense.
What is your top design tip for the front façade of the home?
Don’t underestimate the power of a good garage door! It can take up to 50% of your front façade so it’s worth investing in one that complements your home’s architecture. People often don’t give garage doors too much strategic thought but the reality is, they can make or break your homes façade. Think about colour, texture & design and remember (in most cases), it’s not just a door, it’s a style statement.
What is your favourite thing about renovating?
I love the whole before and after transformation process – taking something tired & dated and turning it into something fresh, functional & beautiful. It’s that “wow” moment when you see the before and afters, side by side, that never gets old for me!
Tell us about some projects you’re working on at the moment.
Right now, I’m knee-deep in one of my biggest projects yet – “Cherie Barber’s Modern Farmhouse”. It’s a huge acreage home transformation just outside of Sydney that’s being filmed for TV & as a YouTube series. I’m also developing a new website which will house a collection of new homewares I’m launching for people who love colourful home decor. Never a dull moment!
What is your top tip to add value to your home?
Focus your renovation budget on things that are highly visible & can be appreciated. You generally get one chance to make an impression so don’t be afraid to spend money on fixtures that make a big visual difference (such as your garage door) & be disciplined enough to pull back on the things that don’t.
Tell us something about you we don’t know.
I’m a total dog mum! My 3 chihuahua fur babies, Disco, Casper & Bella, rule the roost. They often end up in my renovation videos, uninvited of course & always seem to get more comments about them, than the topic I was posting about. I’m also secretly obsessed with Princess Kate. One of my life bucket list items is to shake hands & speak with her one day, even if it’s only for 5 seconds.
